Based in Nagano, Japan, Gen Arai often draws inspiration from his surroundings.  He explores the gentle curves of local mountain roads, the stillness of rural architecture, the changing seasons just outside his studio window. These elements emerge in his work as small, poignant tableaus of daily life, rendered in ways that feel deeply familiar and universally human.
